A. Finding the Plot
You have a hunch that your business or endeavor could use the power of great storytelling, but you don’t know how to begin. So let’s sit down with a cup of coffee and find out where your story lies. Is it in the origin of your business? Is it in some success you’ve enjoyed? Or is it rather in some business failure which can serve as the launchpad of future success? Perhaps it’s the story of your people, or the story of the gifts you would like your business to bring to the world? There’s a story to be told, that’s for sure, that will help identify your brand. B. Developing Your Storyworld
The story of your business is not a two or three minute anecdote to be delivered at a presentation or board meeting. Rather, it’s an environment, a “world” in which you invite your audience to enter in a similar way in which they would enter a theater. So after you’ve discovered the core story of your business, the next task is to build an entire storyworld around it. This task will include:
- An “audit” of your digital and non-digital platforms. Where are the places in which your story will be told? How can these platforms more effectively function as “theaters” where folks can come to be inspired? Here we will evaluate your story platforms. When it comes to your digital presence, we will concentrate on the design, copy, and strategic elements of your site, with the goal of turning a mere storefront into a story.
- Launching of your digital media empire! Digital technology now allows anyone with Internet access to be the CEO of his or her own digital media empire. But to rise above the clutter and the noise, you have to approach the building of your empire with the mind of a mogul. Your website must function as the home base of your empire, but your social networks must also serve to tell your story, drawing folks more deeply into the narrative found more fully on your site. The social networking sea, however, is tumultuous and confusing to navigate. But don’t worry! I’m here to help show the way.
