I believe it could simply be, as the reason people turn to any genre of fiction, we simply want to escape the mundane. I’m working on a tale right now, that throws in sword fighting as my sons dream of every time they find a nice-sized stick, and heroics, with some real life issues on the side. Cultural, ethnic, ethical, and empathetic issues… This is a tale for my sons to relate to, dream of, and contemplate it’s realities in comparison to our own. Meanwhile, trying to instill the value of FAMILY. I think any genre, fantasy or not, depends on what the author wants to present to the audience he/she is writing for. Best of Luck! ~KL ]]> By: robstroud https://thecomicmuse.com/the-craft-of-fiction/is-fantasy-literature-escapist/#comment-6 Wed, 30 May 2012 01:34:05 +0000 /?p=43#comment-6 You’ve captured the essence of the view of these two masters. ]]>
